you have to *know* who you are in order to *change* who you are. how can you conform to the image of Christ if you do not, can not, or will not acknowledge, admit, or examine who you are? God changes us, grows us, and heals us as we *are* who we really *are* before Him.

one very poor analogy.

recently john piper tweeted this:

If we find God boring, we are like five-year-olds who find sex boring. The problem is not with sex.
we are to desire God with all our hearts.  we cannot be compared to a 5 year old who find sex boring -- five year olds should know nothing of sex.  so to imply there is a 'problem' with the five year old is to imply that a 5 year old should desire sex.  there is just no correlation between our spiritual state and a five year old desiring something that God has no desire for that 5 year old to be desiring!!!!!

the poor wording is troubling.  no one is perfect i know, for sure not john piper..  but what i find most troubling of all is the sheer and utter lack of response from john piper to the many people he has stirred up negatively, even triggering abuse victims.  when someone kicks up a firestorm with there words, they need to address it, own it... not just stay silent.  it speaks to me that he sees nothing wrong with his words, and has no apology for them.  which i find shocking from someone with a kind and gentle wisdom like john piper. :(
